Long days, long nights. Is there any point to keep searching? It's been almost 7 months and I still haven't found any one, or anything else living. I'm starting to wonder if I'm even alive myself. Whatever..best not to think about it. I'm following a highway, hoping to come across another grocery store, but the fog doesn't help much. Can't see very far in this weather. My food rations are running low, but I might have to continue walking tomorrow. My legs are tired and it's getting late. Along the road there are some houses. Might as well find one to rest in for the night.

That's when I hear it, a door slamming not far from me. The sudden loud sound makes me jump. It takes me a few moments to recover, a strange sense of foreboding coming over me as I stare up from the sounds location, my eyes meeting a house on a hill.

Should...I go look?
